REMEMBRANCE DAY 2009

Remembrance Day is probably known to most children as Poppy day. The day when those blood red emblems, a symbol of the poppies that grew in Flander’s Field (where many Canadians died), are pinned to a large percent of the population. To others, it is a reminder of what many soldiers did for their country and for the world during WW1. It marks the end of World War 1, with the signing of the Armistice on the 11th hour of the 11th day, of the 11th month, by the Germans in 1918.
There are a number of ceremonies being held today in the city, and if you are not able to make any of them, please take a minute of silence at 11 am.
